SentroBlender

Unit operation simulator for the bin blending process, supporting efficient NIR method development

Learn More About SentroBlender

Overview: Efficient NIR Method Development with Minimal Material

The SentroBlender is a compact unit operation simulator for method development with minimal material usage. It is fully compatible with the SentroPAT BU II and SentroPAT DA NIR process spectrometers. The device features a 4-inch hygienic flange with sapphire windows, identical to those in standard process equipment.

With consistent optical properties, methods developed on the SentroBlender can be seamlessly transferred to production-scale equipment. Its ability to perform precise quantitative analyses using just a few grams of material makes it ideal for rapid, resource-efficient NIR method development.

Using the SentroBlender for PLS method development

The SentroBlender and SentroPAT DA were used for a series of experiments which were reported in several posts on LinkedIn. Below you can find access to these articles.

Blending Unit Operation Simulation (Part One)

In part 1 the planned experiments to built a calibration for Magensiumstearate with a concentration of 0.5% w/w in a blend are described - and the first obersvation that was made.

Blending Unit Operation Simulation (Part Two)

In this part the learnings and corrections from part 1 are described - and the surprisingly clear spectral differences for concentrations of 0.1%, 0.5%, 1.0% and 3.0% are demonstrated.

Frequent Asked Questions

Learn more about the SentroBlender and this unit operation simulator may help you with your PAT development work!

Does a SentroPAT BU II really fit inside the SentroBlender?

Yes! It small look like a tight fit, but we have many customers that use a SentroBlender with a SentroPAT BU II. In fact, the SentroBlender was designed specifically for this application!

What software do I need to run a SentroBlender?

None! Everything is handled via local user interface.

Do the mini-bins with the SentroBlender do a good job mixing?

Blending is complicated, but suffice to say, no: without baffles, the mini-bins are not efficient blenders. If you intend to use the mini-bins provided, we recommend pre-mixing the blends you’re using in order to collect spectra.

However, many of our customers have designed their own miniaturized bins to match the geometry of their small scale bins. This can be done in a way that generates representative blend curves, though these bins are typically larger in volume that the provided mini-bins. For more information, please contact your local Sentronic representative.

Does the SentroBlender need a specialized power source, like a 220-amp supply for the USA?

No, the SentroBlender can be plugged into standard wall outlets in Europe and the USA.
